Candy Corn

I think Candy Corn is so cute! There is just something about it. This card was inspired by a card posted by Peggy Noe on Stampin' Connection (demonstrator Web site).

I added an embossed background and the tag with the sentiment to add my own touch. I thought using the Circles #2 die for the candy corn was clever. One circle made eight candies. I love that this card doesn't use a Halloween stamp (aside from the Happy Halloween sentiment) and yet it is still a Halloween card. Hmm, did that make sense?

Ink:  Tangerine Tango

Let's go fly a kite!

My 4 year old had been asking all summer to go to the coast to fly her Minnie Mouse kite so we went a couple weeks ago. The weather was perfect!  You know, the sun was shining, it was warm, and there was no breeze so sand wasn't flying in your eyes and your hair wasn't all over the place.  Of course, no breeze meant no kite flying.  We tried and tried, but eventually gave up.  Instead, Cody and the kids played in the water.

So with thoughts of flying a kite, I made this card. The Send Me Soaring stamp set is retired, but I love it and have not used it much so it hasn't yet been added to the Craft Sale pile.

So happy and bright...

Kids are napping and my legs are not working so I decided what a good time to sit at my computer and post on my blog.  I ran 16 miles today with my friend/running buddy. We are dragging ourselves through the 26.2 miles of the Portland Marathon. Crazy, yes!

I saw this card while visiting one of my favorite blogs, Dawn's Stamping Studio.  There is a flap on the inside where you can put a gift card.  Clever, eh? I should have taken a picture, but didn't.  I do plan to make some more using another stamp set so I will make a mental note to do so.  Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush are two of the new In-Colors this year and they are beautiful...so happy and bright.  The Ruffle Stretch Trim is very pretty. I might need to buy it in other colors, too!

You're Amazing

I saw this card in the Stampin' Success magazine that comes to us demonstrators with all sorts of ideas and techniques.  I recreated it, but tried to make it my own. I also used the new Envelope Liners to add DSP the inside of the envelope, but you can't see it very well.

Late Post

Wow! Can't believe it is mid-July already. Where has the time gone? We've been busy running kids here and there...wading pool, gymnastics, walking to the park.  I've been running a lot, too.  I registered for 4 Half Marathons this summer.  2 down, 2 to go.  It's been fun!!

I made these cards back in May when graduation was close.  They went to the salon where I get my hair cut and most of them sold.  I saw a couple different ways to do these online so I just went with the style that was closest to one I had made previously.

Of course, once I was done, I realized that I didn't have an envelope that they would fit so I had to make my own.  I had some larger envelopes hanging out in my drawer.  I cut one end off and then made a belly band to go around it.  Just slides right in and the belly band holds it closed.  You can't mail them, but they would make a nice card to give to the happy graduate if you were going to a party.

I made them to coordinate with the local high schools colors, which happen to be Oregon and Oregon State colors too!

Hope you are all (all 3 of you) enjoying your summer!

Amazing Mother

I participated in Mojo Monday a couple weeks ago, but never posted my card.  Opps!  I went with a Mother's Day theme since Mother's Day was just around the corner.  I know this doesn't say "Happy Mother's Day"  but I think it would work or it could be a card if you just want to tell your mother she is amazing.

Fabric Frames

Hi!  I had a booth at the Oregon City High School Spring Bazaar a couple weekends ago.  I decided I wasn't going to go crazy with a bunch of little crafts so I focused on Mother's Day cards and Graduation gift card holders/cards and these frames.  I used Designer Fabric and metal found in the plumbing section at The Home Depot.  My husband cut the metal down to the 11x14 to fit the frames for me.  We used spray adhesive on the fabric so it would stick to the metal.  For the little "flower" in the corners, I ripped strips of fabric and then used a needle and thread to put a running stitch along the side, then I pulled tight to make a round flower (if you want to call it that).  I used my circle die and the Big Shot to cut out circles and then I hand stitched along the edge and pulled to make a yo-yo.  I hot glued them together with a button in the center and a magnet on the back.

I made matching bottle cap magnets using DSP to match the fabric.  I punched circles for the inside of the bottle caps (found in the Spring Catalog) and squeezed Crystal Effects in them to make inside smooth and shiny.  Hot glued a magnet on the back and that was it.  They were pretty easy and quick to put together.

Whales & Cupcakes

I love the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP in the spring catalog.  The whale design is so cute.  The print is big and I wasn't sure how to use it so you can see it.  Using it on a majority of the card was really the only way to go for this paper.  I recently ordered the scallop square die and I wanted to use both the paper and die on the same card.  This is what I came up with and I think it is darling for a baby card.

Cardstock:  Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP

I like everything about this card.

Princess Pirate Party

Abigail's 4th birthday was in March and she wanted a pink princess pirate party.  I remembered Stampin' Up! had a skull stamp that retired.  I looked on Ebay and found the stamp in the Just Jawing set.  I bid and won!  I was hoping the invite would turn out cute, being that it was a skull and I think it did.

I wanted some sparkle on the invite so I mixed Black and Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder for the skull.  The heart eyes and pink bow made it girly.

Here is the birthday girl opening her presents.  I ordered her black and pink leg warmers and tutu to go along with her pirate skull shirt.

The thank you cards came together really fast.  Too bad they didn't get in the mail that way!

Spring, Spring, Spring

I wish Spring would hurry up and get here.  It is still too cold outside for me to think that Spring is close.  I made these cards for my event on Saturday.  As always, I have options.  I don't know why I plan more than one choice...it creates more work for me.  Options are good, right?  I have never been to a workshop and thought, "Oh, I wish I could make this card using different color cardstock."  or "This card would look cute using the blah, blah stamp set."  I just make what they have available and I am happy.  But for some reason, I knock myself out with different options for DSP, as well as cardstock.  The Bloomin' Marvelous card in my previous post has options, too.

Back to my sample...I was dreaming of spring the other day when I came up with this card.  Looking forward to the little bit of warmer weather, flowers blooming, and walks with the kids in our raincoats.

Bloomin' Marvelous

I will be having a workshop at my house next Saturday and this is one of the cards we will be making.  I made one similar to this at a downline meeting I went to in January.  This card below uses the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set, which I didn't think I liked when I first saw it in the Sale-A-Bration brochure (FREE product for every $50 you spend between now and March 22), but I have seen some really cute cards made with this set so I picked it as one of my FREE items.  I also got the ribbon FREE and the Designer Series Paper FREE, too.

If you want to see the card that I made at my meeting, click here.  I put DSP along the side of the card instead of the bottom like Heidi did.  I love her card and wanted to use it at one of my workshops, but I didn't want to copy hers exactly.  Makes me think of Spring...

Mojo Monday 279

Today is Tuesday, but yesterday I made a card using the Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO279).  Both kids took a good nap so I was able to get a good start on this card and finish it up when they went down for the night. This is my first time participating in a Mojo Monday sketch and I definitely think I will be doing it again.

Here is the sketch:

Cheers!

Hi Friends!  It's been a while since I have posted.  Busy with kids, housework, and life.  Just when I do find some free time during naps to sit down and create, Abigail wakes up and wants to make a card for her daddy or one of her many imaginary friends.  So the card that I had all cut out and ready to assemble gets put on hold and we cut out more stuff for her.  Oh well, I like that she already has a love for being crafty.

I created the card below for a workshop (inspired by a card by fellow demonstrator Mindy Backes).  Yes, there is glitter on the lemons.  Of course, there is.

Stamp Set:  Happy Hour
Ink:  Basic Grey, Primrose Petals, So Saffron
Cardstock:  Basic Grey, Primrose Petals, So Saffron
Accessories: Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Labels Collection Framelits, 1/2" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Square Punch, 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon - Primrose Petals, Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter, Big Shot

I needed to come up with an idea for a card for a swap at a downline meeting.  I spent all day trying to come up with something that I could be proud of.  I was almost in tears and ready to quit when Cody called me downstairs for dinner.  I ate and went back up stairs and this is what came together (suppose I just needed some food in my belly).  You could say it was inspired by the card above.

 Clean and Simple!

Stamp Set:  Happy Valentine's Day - Heart
Ink: Real Red
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Pool Party, Real Red, More Amore DSP
Accessories:  Honeycomb Texturing Embossing Folder, Chevron Texturing Embossing Folder, Hearts Collection Framelits, 1-1/4" Square Punch, Full Heart Punch, Pool Party Ribbon (Sale-A-Bration), Dazzling Diamonds Stampin Glitter, Big Shot
